Other Stories

Here are some of the stories of those connected to Marty that will be integrated in the film.

John Yandle has been throwing batting practice for the Giants for over 35 years. John and Marty are cut from the same cloth. In their own ways, they’re baseball lifers, happy prisoners of their passion for the game. And, of course, they’re good friends.

Emily De Falla was a jury consultant when she first met Marty, but what she really wanted to be was a lawyer. Marty helped make it happen and today, she’s not only Marty’s personal attorney, she’s also the CEO and guiding spirit behind “American Innings,” a unique website that she and Marty have created that looks at American history through the lens of baseball.

Sunny Schwartz has dubbed Marty a “rock star lawyer”. She has devoted much of her legal career to the emerging field of restorative justice, a passion she shares with Marty. Sunny has served on the board of the Giants Community Fund for many years and has the distinction of being the only person to have been married at second base at Oracle Park.

James Nash is the most recent recipient of the Uncle Abe Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the community through involvement in youth sports. He is a working musician, composer, and producer, yet has found the time to coach more than 50 youth baseball teams, and given hundreds of hours to the Junior Giants program. Like Marty, he strongly believes in mentorship.

Then there are all the young broadcasters and media personalities who Marty has mentored, people like Bonta Hill, Carmen Kiew, Raf Corral, and Kerry Crowley. Their road to success began with their connection to Marty.
